Care
Packages for Troops Serving Overseas
Many service men & women return
from overseas for treatment without
any provisions or personal property
at their disposal. In support of casualties
treated state-side, Tau Delta Zeta Chapter
provided everyday items that the average
American takes for granted. Donations
included toiletry items such as deodorant,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, and
brushes as well as stationary to write
family members.

March
of Dimes WalkAmerica
Since 1972, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has
enjoyed a partnership with the March
of Dimes in an effort to encourage women
to seek prenatal care within the first
trimester of pregnancy, thereby increasing
the prevention of birth defects and
infant mortality. WalkAmerica is the
March of Dimes largest and most visible
drive to secure funds on behalf of these
efforts. TDZ raised over $5,200 for
March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2004! Chapter
members also participated in the 5K
walk and volunteered to assist with
registration and set-up. Additionally,
TDZ also sponsored a Cheerpoint (better
known as a checkpoint) along the route
where members encouraged the walkers
as they passed and offered refreshments
and other giveaways in partnership with
local chapters.

Kinderfest
Sponsored by the Maryland National-Capital
Park and Planning Commission, Department
of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's
County, Maryland, Kinderfest is an annual
event geared towards family and children.
Activities include a moon bounce, hay
rides, create your own scarecrow, and
educational activities and games, which
teach children about recycling. Chapter

through volunteer opportunities in the
children’s area. Members facilitated

with various arts and crafts activities.
Adopt
a Classroom
In these challenging financial times,
teachers in our public schools are
often faced with out-of-pocket expenses.
In order to adequately provide for
students, many have to purchase items
with their own money. As a means of
supporting the ideal of Scholarship
and as a responsible member of the
community, Tau Delta Zeta Chapter
has adopted a classroom at Laurel
High School. The Chapter’s ongoing
project assists by providing funding
and school supplies for students.
Fight
Against Domestic Violence
Members of Tau Delta Zeta Chapter
have supported the Family Crisis Center,
the only shelter in Prince George’s
County for victims of Domestic Violence.
Support of the center has come in
the form of donations of clothing,
canned foods and monetary contributions.
Maryland
Commission for Women
Tau Delta Zeta has committed to align
herself with organizations that are
committed to enhancing the quality
of life for women. Members have attended
the annual conference to establish
the 2004 Legislative Agenda for Maryland
Women. Issues of importance include:
improving education, providing quality
healthcare, stabilizing our economy
and supporting women who are victims
of domestic violence.
Women's
Action Coalition
As a member of the Women’s Action
Coalition, TDZ co-sponsored the 2004
Women's Legislative Briefing along
with several prominent organizations
in the metropolitan area. This annual
conference informs women of relevant
topics that are being addressed in
the legislature. The keynote speaker
was Dr. Dorothy Height.
Holiday
Sharing Campaign
The Chapter participated in the 2003
Holiday Sharing Campaign of Prince
George’s County Department of
Social Services through a monetary
donation for food baskets and gifts
for county residents in need in celebration
of the holiday season.
Adopt-A-Family
for the Holidays
The holiday season is an opportunity
to share life’s blessings with
those in the community most in need.
The Chapter supported a family of
six suffering from the financial burden
of everyday expenditures coupled with
the medical expenses of a child afflicted
with brain tumors and a mother contending
with major surgery. The family was
grateful for the unsolicited assistance.
